Polly lands at Bennies

I love it when I have a meeting with a head of a school and find them as enthusiastic as I am about my writing. That is what happened this week when I met with Mrs. Mackinnon from St Benedicts Junior Prep. I have been onto Bennies before and given talks to the boys, but the Polly’s Piralympics Series has taken a slightly new direction since then and I was keen to share this with them.

I was met by a smiling Mrs. Mackinnon and the remarks, “Hallo, so what have you been up to since we last met? ”

I explained that I was now on the 6th book and How Polly Became a Pirate had just gone live on Amazon. The books have an interactive page at the end of each chapter and that for schools they are accompanied by a game and CD with teaching aids on it (including a balancing card Polly that the kids can take home to reinforce their lessons with.)

I gave a copy of How Polly Became a Pirate and Polly Ya Nae Can Fly to her to read, which she did that night, and proceeded to confirm that she would like to order 100 books for her school to use with the grade 3’s in their L.O. lessons. She loved how these books are something between workbooks and chapter books – “Ideal for grade 3’s to make the transition to chapter books.”

Well, I think I flew as high as Polly when I receive the news and I can’t wait to see how the boys receive my story, and how the teachers use it within their classroom.

So if you know a school that you think would benefit from Polly and her adventures just drop me a line.
